Muhammad Abid graduated with a bachelor's degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2013 and an MPhil Microbiology degree in 2016 from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, Pakistan.

In 2017, he got a fully funded scholarship to pursue his PhD degree at Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences where he worked on the development of Herpesvirus-vectored vaccine. He obtained his PhD degree in December 2019. In 2021, Muhammad Abid joined Viral Oncogenesis group at Pirbright as a molecular virologist. Currently, his area of research is recombinant vaccine development under the supervision of Prof Venugopal Nair OBE.
