Dr Jiayun Yang

Jiayun Yang acquired his dual bachelor’s degrees from Humboldt State University, USA in Biology (2013) and Gansu Agricultural University, China in Animal Biotechnology (2014). Jiayun then joined the Molecular Ecology of Animal Viruses group at Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences as a research assistant in 2014, where his research focused on the epidemiology and pathogenicity of avian and swine influenza viruses in China. In 2016, Jiayun joined the University of Nottingham as a PhD student under the leadership of Professor Kin-Chow Chang. Jiayun's PhD research focused on the host innate immune response of human and pig airway epithelial cells and anti-influenza drug exploitation. Jiayun is now a post-doctoral scientist at The Pirbright Institute between the Coronavirus Cellular Biology and Mosquito Immunity groups.
