David Willetts, Minister of State for Universities and Science, led a ‘topping-out’ ceremony on 24th October, marking a milestone in the progress of the construction of the IAH’s new £100M+ high containment laboratory. The building has reached its maximum height, just a year after construction started, led by Shepherd Construction Ltd., and funded by BBSRC and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
Pirbright scientist becomes a Visiting Professor of the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology
Dr John Anderson MBE of the BBSRC’s Institute for Animal Health at Pirbright has this month (September) been made a Visiting Professor of the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST ). This is in recognition of his longstanding involvement in the development of biotechnology for Africa, specifically in relation to the development and application of diagnostics for the control of infectious diseases of livestock.
