Dr Jane Edwards
Jane graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Sheffield and then went onto do an MSc in Immunology at Kings College, London.
Her PhD at the Royal Veterinary College studied the association of prions in different immune cells during scrapie infection. Before joining Pirbright, Jane’s work at the Animal and Plant Health Agency included characterising dendritic cells in blood and tonsil of pigs and assessing these cells in the context of classical swine fever virus infection.
Jane is now interested in understanding immune dysregulation during PRRSV infection. This has included developing tools to better describe the phenotype and function of cells resident in the germinal centres of lymphoid organs in the pig and using the mouse arterivirus, lactate dehydrogenase elevating virus, as a tractable model for PRRSV infection
