Veterinary researchers from around the world came together at this year’s joint UK & International Veterinary Vaccinology Network Conference on the 9-10 January 2019 with the aim of improving vaccines for livestock and zoonotic diseases both in the UK and internationally. Over 200 participants attended the two-day conference, whilst over 250 people from 28 countries joined via live streaming of the event (a first for both networks).

A study led by The Pirbright Institute has created the first framework for determining the true cost of peste des petits ruminants (PPR) vaccine campaigns based on case studies in Ethiopia. PPR, also known as goat plague, is a contagious viral disease of sheep and goats which has severe socio-economic impacts on farmers with affected flocks across large parts of Africa and Asia.
