Hannah works as a Diagnostic Scientist in the Serological Assay Unit of the Vesicular Disease Reference Laboratory. She operates under the ISO/IEC 17025 standard on virus neutralisation tests and ELISAs, as well as training others in in-house Foot and Mouth Disease training courses. She also acts as team technical support for management systems such as LIMS, ‘Absorb’ learning and ‘Oshens’ health and safety risk assessment.
She developed an interest in practical virology while studying her M.Sc. in Biomedical Science, specialising in Medical Microbiology at the University of the West of England (UWE), and has a comprehensive quality testing background in High-performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and wet chemistry techniques from previous job roles, as well as molecular experience from her undergraduate B.Sc. in Molecular & Cellular Biology at the University of Bath, with Industrial experience at Public Health England (PHE) in Porton Down.
