Dr Estela Gonzalez Fernandez
Estela Gonzalez, BSc in Biology at the University of Vigo (Spain) and MSc in Clinical Analysis at the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) joined the Laboratory of Medical Entomology of the National Center for Microbiology (Madrid, Spain) in 2011 where she conducted her PhD in Microbiology and Parasitology. Her thesis was focused on the entomological surveillance in a leishmaniasis outbreak involving field captures of sand flies, taxonomical identification, vector biology and detection of infection rates and blood meal preferences. She joined the Arthropod Genetics group at The Pirbright Institute in October 2018. She's involved in projects focused on the development of genetic tools for Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi control.
