Dr Andrew Broadbent led the birnaviruses group at Pirbright that conducted research into the pathogenesis and control of avian immunosuppressive viruses that can exacerbate the spread of zoonotic diseases. He holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Cambridge, a Masters degree from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Imperial College London. Prior to joining Pirbright, Andrew was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the US.
