Campus redevelopment

Redevelopment of the Pirbright campus to meet modern day standards is essential to ensure that the UK maintains its ability to monitor epizootic viral diseases of farm animals and has the capability to control outbreaks. The Institute has a crucial and unique role to play in providing this capability.

Developing the campus is also imperative in maintaining our Reference Laboratory status, to enable us to deal with new challenges and provide a facility for research and training available to researchers from other institutions in the UK and around the world.

Pirbright’s campus development will provide more flexible laboratories with facilities capable of meeting the future demands of diseases not yet a problem in this country which with global warming could soon become more widespread.

Once completed, our redeveloped site will provide a unique and vital diagnosis and research facility for the UK and will have international significance for the future.
