Ana is an associate professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She finished her PhD in 2001, in Veterinary Medicine with emphasis in Animal Virology, at the same University. She is responsible for several graduation and post-graduation disciplines, and at the moment is responsible for four PhD students and two MSc students from two Post Graduation Programs, at the same University. She has experience in veterinary medicine, with emphasis in viral diseases of animals, viral pathogenesis studies and identification of emerging viruses, and has developed experiments on the following topics: pathogenesis of bovine herpesviruses and circoviruses and development of differential and recombinant vaccines and virological diagnostic tests.
Currently she develops different projects in collaboration with Brazilian and overseas research institutions and will develop part of her post doc studies on avian innate immunity at The Pirbright Institute..
