Fox Corner Community Wildlife Area

A team of volunteers from the Institute recently gave up a morning to join forces with local residents and The Surrey Wildlife Trust to help clear water soldiers and willow from the Fox Corner pond.

Pirbright's Estates team have been able to assist with other essential works at the wildlife area providing both manpower, essential equipment and skills.  These tasks have included clearing the woodland path, cutting the wildflower meadow and carrying out tree work.

The wildflower meadow work alone is estimated to have saved the volunteer Fox Corner group approximately £400.  The Committee are working with the Institutes Environment and Estates teams on future projects for Spring 2016, for example, helping with the removal of the invasive Himalayan Balsam plant species.
